Sam Kahamba Kutesa elected President for the 69th Session of UNGA

1.    Sam Kahamba Kutesa elected President for the 69th Session of UNGA
i. Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kahamba Kutesa was elected as the President of 69th Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
ii. The theme for the 69th session is Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda.
iii. He replaced the present John William Ashe of Antigua and Barbuda, who led the 68th session of the 193-member UNGA.
He was the only candidate nominated for the Presidency for the 69th session from African Union since it was the Africa Group's turn to have the Presidency.
iv. For each session of UNGA, which is held every year, UNGA elects a President and 21 Vice-President on the equal geographical rotation basis from each region.

Note: From India, it was Vijayalaxmi Pandit who was elected as the President of the Eighth Session of UNGA.

2.    6th International Nuclear Energy Forum ATOMEXPO-2014 held in Moscow
i. 6th International Nuclear Energy Forum ATOMEXPO-2014 was held from 9 to 11 June 2014 in Moscow.
ii. The ATOMEXPO-2014 forum saw signing of international agreements and memorandums by the nuclear sector companies.

ATOMEXPO International Forum is a major exhibition and business platform for conducting meetings and negotiations between the worldwide leaders of the nuclear power industry. Purpose of the Forum is to provide an opportunity to leaders of nuclear power industry and nuclear power engineering to publicly define the place and role of nuclear generation in the 21st century. 

3.    Sachin Aggarwal receives 'Student Honour' in the Home of Adelaide Oval
i. Sachin Aggarwal has been named as one of seven International Student Ambassadors for South Australia.
ii. Sachin, who is originally from Hoshiarpur (Punjab) is studying 'Master of Professional Accounting and Finance' at the University of South Australia in Adelaide.
iii. Sachin was chosen for the student ambassador role by StudyAdelaide, a statutory authority of the South Australian Government. The ambassadors are leaders in the international student community who spread the word about Adelaide, the South Australian capital and premier student city.
