Dalia Grybauskaite won the Presidential election of Lithuania

1.    Dalia Grybauskaite won the Presidential election of Lithuania
i. Dalia Grybauskaite, the Iron Lady of Lithuania, on 25 May 2014 won the Presidential elections of Lithuania.
ii. As a result she became the first person to serve as the President of Lithuania for consecutive second term. She served the first term as President from 2009 to 2014 as the term of President of Lithuania is five years.
iii. In the second round of counting of votes, she emerged victorious by winning 58 percent of votes over her rival Zigmantas Balcytis of Social Democrat who garnered 42 percent votes.
iv. She fought the Presidential election as an independent candidate and focused her campaign on national security. She is a former EU Budget Chief

2.    Nation pays homage to Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary today
i. The nation pays homage to the former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary today.
ii. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and leaders from various political parties and dignitaries offered floral tributes to Nehru at his Samadhi- Shanti Vana in the national capital. 
iii. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary.

3.    China won Uber Cup 2014 of badminton
i. China won Uber Cup 2014 of badminton on 24 May 2014.  China team defeated the Japan team 3-1 in the final held at Siri Fort Complex in New Delhi.  
ii. With this, China won the Uber Cup for the 13th time and it was China’s eighth title from the last nine editions. China has reached 16 successive finals.
